happy 4th!

This weekend Mary and Becca came to visit from Boston and we ate our way through New York bakeries. We started our total disregard for anything nutritious at Alice's Tea Cup, a tea house based on Alice in Wonderland.

I hardly remember anything about the tea though, because the scones were so incredible. I had a pumpkin and a banana peanut-butter chocolate scone, Mary had goat cheese and basil and a salted carmel, and Becca had pumpkin and buttermilk. The scones were so huge that we ate half of each and were still stuffed.

From there we wandered through Riverside Park and Columbus Circle and stopped at the Union Square Market to buy fresh basil, mozzarella, tomatoes and zucchini for a homemade pizza. Before making our pizza we swung by Magnolia's where we each got not one, but 2 desserts for lunch. (I had a 4th of July cupcake and a lemon square)

I hope you're having a wonderful 4th of July! Mine's going to include more cooking and eating and I hope yours does too.
